Queer Food

Serving with Pride Since 2023

Queer Food is a queer and trans-led social enterprise using delicious pantry products to celebrate LGBTQIA+ history, culture and community.

Our range began with a dukkah created with Odafin Cady, known as Mama MadB, for their wedding. Since then, Queer Food has grown into a collection of packaged retail products, each permanently connected to an LGBTQIA+ story, person, moment or collaboration.

We also create thoughtful corporate gifts, events and partnerships for organisations looking to support inclusion in meaningful, practical ways.

Giving back is central to what we do. A portion of revenue from every product grows our community-led Impact Fund, providing micro-grants that help trans and gender-diverse people access gender-affirming care. Our long-term vision is to build a community-led Medicare for trans people—supporting access to care now, while investing in the research and advocacy needed to improve it for the future.

Thank you for supporting Queer Food. Every purchase celebrates LGBTQIA+ stories and helps build a future where trans and gender-diverse people can access the care they need.

Meet the Team

Andy De Groot (He/ Him)

Founder and CEO

Andy de Groot is the founder of Queer Food: a trans man, lawyer turned chef and social entrepreneur.

After completing a law degree, Andy followed his passion for food, trained as a chef and worked in leading kitchens including Rockpool and Mabu Mabu. In 2023, he brought his experience in food, advocacy and social change together to found Queer Food.

Today, Andy leads Queer Food’s product development, partnerships and storytelling, using food to celebrate LGBTQIA+ communities and help improve access to gender-affirming care.

Minerva Ni (She/ Her)

Operational Support

Minerva joined Queer Food in late 2024, initially supporting food preparation before moving into an operational support role.

She now helps manage the administrative side of the social enterprise, with a particular focus on developing and maintaining the internal systems that help Queer Food thrive. Known for her willingness to jump into whatever needs doing, Minerva is an invaluable part of the team.

Odafin Cady (They/ Them)

Resident MC and Retail All-Rounder

Odafin is the OG non-binary deity and has helped shape Queer Food from the very beginning. A proud Djabugandji and Kaurareg person, they bring warmth, humour and care to making products, representing Queer Food at markets and events, and keeping the team smiling along the way.

When they are not repping Queer Food, Odafin is the Director of Rainbow Mob, Canberra’s Indigenous-led organisation supporting young queer and trans mob.
