Serving with Pride Since 2023

Queer Food was founded by Andy de Groot, a trans man, law graduate turned sous chef, turned social entrepreneur. It started with a simple idea, to tell LGBTQIA+ stories through food and give back to the community.

The first retail product, a dukkah, was launched online in November 2023. Created in collaboration with Shawnah Cady (aka MadB) for their wedding, it has since grown into a national retail product range. Every item we create is rooted in storytelling, inspired by LGBTQIA+ history or developed in collaboration with community icons and organisations.

Beyond retail, we create bespoke gifts, events, and collaborations that help organisations champion inclusion in meaningful ways.

To give back, Queer Food reinvests revenue into an impact fund to provide micro-grants for gender-affirming care, responding to ongoing barriers faced by trans and gender diverse communities. We also create employment and paid opportunities for LGBTQIA+ people.

Today, Queer Food continues to use food as a platform for visibility, pride, and connection, proving that every bite can be an act of cultural change.
