Queer Food is a certified social enterprise!
Queer Food tells LGBTQIA+ stories through food, creates jobs for queer and trans people, and is building a social impact fund to improve access to gender affirming care and support other queer ventures.

Employment
We provide safe, affirming jobs and hands-on training for LGBTQIA+ people in hospitality, creating pathways to thrive, not just survive, in the workplace.
Currently, three staff members are helping shape the future of Queer Food.

Queer Food Impact Fund
We created the Queer Food Impact Fund to give back by improving access to gender-affirming care and support other queer ventures. We currently donate 1% of our revenue and are working towards contributing 50% of our profits.
We’ll track and share donations here, along with updates as the fund grows. If you’d like to donate directly, you can do so below.
Donate to Queer Food
Donate to support the work that we do. Your donations will go to improve access to gender affirming care and support other queer ventures. We are so grateful for your support.
However, please note that as we are not a registered charity, the donations are not tax deductible.
Sustainability
Sustainability is a core part of our business and it is something that we will always continue to work on. For now, we have seven main ways we are trying to reduce our impact on the environment:
Minimising waste
We only order what is needed for each event and manage stock so that we do not have excess that may go off.
Sourcing local and sustainable food
We focus on building relationships with local suppliers who are able to provide us with the best quality sustainable food.
Reusing food
We have a partnership where we donate our left over food from events to Canberra’s local Food not Bombs branch to reuse.
Packaging
We aim to source the most ethical and environmentally friendly packaging available. All our packaging is either home-compostable, industry compostable, recyclable, or reusable. Also at staffed events, when possible, we will work with the client to ensure food is served on reusable platters.
BYO Containers Scheme
If you would like to provide us with your own containers we will always be happy to fill them. When providing containers you need to make sure they are clean, big enough to hold the food you have ordered and they need to be dropped off one week prior to your order fulfilment date.
Gas Free
We have chosen to be gas-free. Our food trailer is run completely on electricity to reduce our use of fossil fuels and our greenhouse gas emissions.
Future Solar Plans
We are also hoping to one day run the trailer of solar generators, but for now, that is a future dream.
